Micathel Boer Goat Stud was established in 1991, and is one of the oldest Boer Goat studs in Australia. Principal Marie Barnes took over the breeding program in 1999, with the studs first National show broad ribbon winner coming along in 2002.

The stud has stood the test of time producing top animals consistently for well over a decade and remains a leader with an outstanding international reputation. She was Goat Industry Team Leader for the New South Wales Department of Agriculture and combines her formal qualifications and livestock extension experience, with a lifetime of agricultural involvement, bringing both a keen eye and unique perspective to her breeding and management philosophy.
